CFHAG for Silica Slurry Drying for Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd.
- Client
- Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd., Bhavnagar

Indirect coal-fired hot air generators (CFHAG) and pipe-in-pipe heat exchangers for silica slurry drying at Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd., Bhavnagar, who is both the client and the end-user.
The challenge
- High energy cost due to use of expensive clean fuel (kerosene) in direct-fired hot air generator for drying of silica slurry.
- Precipitated Silica is used in toothpastes, certain food products, cosmetics etc. So it cannot tolerate any contamination during drying or any other process.
- Different grades of the product need different temperatures for processing, as high as 750°C.
Our solution
- Indirect Coal-fired Hot Air Generators delivering hot air at temperatures ranging from 600 to 750°C. with unit capacities ranging from 3 to 14 Million Kcal/hr.
- We have incorporated innovative features in the CFHAG to minimise corrosion at high as well as low temperatures, improving the service life of the equipment.
- Also Pipe-in-pipe Heat Exchangers for recovering useful heat from hot silica slurry.
The results
- Coal being much cheaper than kerosene, yields huge savings in operational cost.
- Indirect firing delivers clean, uncontaminated air meeting the stringent requirement of the process.
- Madhu Silica has installed multiple units of CFHAG and Pipe-in-pipe Heat Exchangers delivering huge cost savings.
- Estimated Payback periods: Less than 1 year
- Longer service life of tubes.
Main benefits to the client
- Attractive payback period for the investment
- Improved bottom-line and product competitiveness
- Reduction in Carbon Footprint
