Advanced Thermal Solutions for Chemical Processing

Energy-efficient thermal systems designed specifically for chemical manufacturing, optimizing performance while reducing energy consumption and emissions.

Transforming Chemical Processing with Advanced Thermal Solutions

The chemical industry operates in a high-demand, energy-intensive environment where process reliability, thermal efficiency, and cost optimization are essential. With growing pressure to reduce operational costs and meet stringent emission norms, manufacturers are increasingly turning toward customized thermal solutions that ensure consistent heating while lowering environmental impact.

Coal-Fired Hot Air Generators (CFHAG)

Urja-Disha offers specialized engineering design services for the chemical industry, with a focus on Coal-Fired Hot Air Generators (CFHAGs) to utilise cheaper and locally available solid fuels viz. coal, biomass etc. Our systems deliver clean, dry, and temperature-controlled hot air for drying, calcination, and other heat treatment processes in chemical plants.

System Capabilities

Our CFHAG systems are engineered for high efficiency, precise temperature control, and long service life:

  • Capacity Range - 2 to 15 million kcal/hr
  • Temperature - Up to 750°C
  • Turndown Ratio - Optimized for variable loads
  • Fuel Types - Coal, lignite, biomass briquettes, agro-residues

Design Advantages

Our thermal solutions are built with cutting-edge technology to deliver superior performance:

  • Low excess air operation

Success Story

How we helped a leading chemical manufacturer achieve operational excellence.

10 Million kcal/hr CFHAG for Specialty Chemicals

A chemical plant in Gujarat specializing in specialty Chemicals required a reliable thermal solution for their production process. We designed and implemented a 10 million kcal/hr coal-fired hot air generator with integrated dust collection and flexi-fuel capabilities.

We designed a 10 million kcal/hr system featuring indirect hot air generation with:

  • 12% Fuel Savings - Reduced operational costs through improved efficiency
  • Emission Compliance - Met all local environmental regulations
  • Reduced Downtime - Minimized unplanned shutdowns

Projects we have delivered

Plant we engineered, supplied and commissioned in this sector.

CFHAG for Silica Slurry Drying for Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd.

Client
Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd., Bhavnagar
Indirect coal-fired hot air generator supplying clean hot air for silica slurry drying

Indirect coal-fired hot air generators (CFHAG) and pipe-in-pipe heat exchangers for silica slurry drying at Madhu Silica Pvt. Ltd., Bhavnagar, who is both the client and the end-user.

The challenge

  • High energy cost due to use of expensive clean fuel (kerosene) in direct-fired hot air generator for drying of silica slurry.
  • Precipitated Silica is used in toothpastes, certain food products, cosmetics etc. So it cannot tolerate any contamination during drying or any other process.
  • Different grades of the product need different temperatures for processing, as high as 750°C.

Our solution

  • Indirect Coal-fired Hot Air Generators delivering hot air at temperatures ranging from 600 to 750°C. with unit capacities ranging from 3 to 14 Million Kcal/hr.
  • We have incorporated innovative features in the CFHAG to minimise corrosion at high as well as low temperatures, improving the service life of the equipment.
  • Also Pipe-in-pipe Heat Exchangers for recovering useful heat from hot silica slurry.

The results

  • Coal being much cheaper than kerosene, yields huge savings in operational cost.
  • Indirect firing delivers clean, uncontaminated air meeting the stringent requirement of the process.
  • Madhu Silica has installed multiple units of CFHAG and Pipe-in-pipe Heat Exchangers delivering huge cost savings.
  • Estimated Payback periods: Less than 1 year
  • Longer service life of tubes.

Main benefits to the client

  • Attractive payback period for the investment
  • Improved bottom-line and product competitiveness
  • Reduction in Carbon Footprint
